Man caught with cocaine and ‘substantial’ amount of cash in Kilkenny city-centre

A MAN was arrested in Kilkenny city in the early of yesterday morning after they were caught with €1,000 worth of cocaine and a “substantial” amount of cash.

Kilkenny gardai on patrol in the city-centre approached the man after they saw him “acting suspiciously”.

They searched him under the Misuse of Drugs Act and quickly discovered the drugs and cash.

A local Garda spokesperson said the cash is “suspected to be the proceeds of drugs sales”.

The man was arrested and taken to Kilkenny Garda Station, where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He was later charged with the sale and supply of controlled drugs.
