Boy (12) rushed to hospital following horrific assault by teen gang in Kilkenny playground

A 12-year-old boy sustained serious head, back and facial injuries after being subjected to a sustained and horrific attack by a gang of youths in a county Kilkenny town, leading to head, face and back injuries.

The sickening incident occurred in Callan between 5.30pm and 6pm last Thursday evening, which resultd in the boy being taken to St Luke’s General Hospital.

The young boy was playing in the playground in Callan when the gang, both boys and girls all in their mid-teens, approached him and assaulted him.

Following the initial sickening assault, the boy was further threatened by the youths and forced to go on a zip line located within the playground.

The boy fell from the zip line, landing badly, injuring his back, head and breaking teeth.

Gardaí in Callan are anxious to talk to anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or who may have information about the incident. They are asked to contact Callan Garda Station on 056 770 6630.
