Chinese student who traveled from centre of coronavirus outbreak given all clear
The Chinese student based in Waterford who was placed into self-isolation after travelling to Ireland from Wuhan, China on Sunday has been given the all-clear for coronavirus by health services.
The man, who is a student at Waterford Institute of Technology, was placed in self- isolation as a precautionary measure for the past number of days and agreed to remain in his accommodation and not attend college.
He had left the Chinese city of Wuhan before it was placed under lockdown and when he arrived in Ireland show no signs of illness or symptoms of the coronavirus.
This morning the Health Service Executive confirmed the man was given the all-clear yesterday evening.
In a statement released this morning the HSE said: “Public health doctors assessed the situation and have not identify any possible, or suspected cases of the coronavirus infection.
“There is no public health requirement for isolation of any person at this point.”#
