Disappointment as Kilkenny Castle Playground will not re-open this weekend
THE newly revamped Kilkenny Castle Playground will not reopen in time for the Bank Holiday weekend as originally planned.
The news will come as a disappointment for local kids and their parents who had planned to visit the playground, which was closed in April to allow for vital works to take place, this weekend.
However, the Office of Public Works (OPW) has confirmed the playground will not now reopen until June 7.
In a tweet, the OPW said the playground would not be ready in time for the Bank Holiday weekend due to “circumstances beyond OPW” control.
It added: “It is now envisaged that the Playground will re-open on Friday 7th June. We apologize (sic) for any inconvenience caused.”
