Green light for Kilkenny’s first graveyard facility for cremated remains
A cemetery in Kilkenny city will host the county’s first resting place for cremated remains.
The Columbarium Wall will be installed at St Kieran’s Cemetery. It comes after a public consultation phase for the development ended in November with no submissions from the public.
Council chief executive Colette Byrne said it is hoped a contract for the works will be awarded in early May, with construction expected to take around six-months.
Fianna Fáil councillor John Coonan told local broadcaster KCLR more similar facilities could be built across the county if there is demand for it.
