Irish lorry driver arrested in UK after 15 people discovered in trailer
An Irishman in his 50s has been arrested in the UK after 15 people were discovered in the back of a lorry he was driving.
The lorry was discovered in Chippenham, Wiltshire following what UK police called reports of “suspicious activity,” shortly before 8.30pm yesterday.
The Irishman was arrested on suspicion of assisting illegal entry and remains in custody this morning.
All of the people discovered in the lorry are said to be in a healthy condition, one was taken to hospital for checks. The remaining 14 people have been taken into custody.
