No new deaths but 142 new cases as people urged to reduce contacts to slow spread
There were no further deaths from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland in the last 24 hours, the HSE said this evening.
The total death toll here is now 1,777 while the number of confirmed cases has now reached 28,720 after another 142 were diagnosed.
Meanwhile, people have been urged to reduce their social contacts this weekend to slow the spread of Covid-19.
“If cases continue to rise we will see an inevitable increase in the number of people hospitalised. We all have a role to play in preventing that from happening,” Acting Chief Medical Officer, Ronan Glynn said.
“Please cut down the people you are meeting up with, and at most have six visitors to your home.”
