Thieves on the prowl targeting cars in Kilkenny town while owners sleep

THIEVES have been prowling around a county Kilkenny town targeting cars while their owners are asleep in their homes.
On one night last week three cars parked close to each other were broken into in Thomastown.
Thieves broke into two cars in Maudlin Court and one car in Dunan between 9pm last Thursday night and 8.30am on Friday morning. A sum of money and a gold bracelet were stolen from one of the cars, while nothing was taken from the other two.
Last month several cars broken were into in Thomastown and surrounding areas. All of the break-ins occurred during the night. Several vehices had their windows smashed.
In a separate incident in nearby Hugginstown, a woman who went for a walk in the Ballinva Woods returned to find her car broken into last Saturday morning.
The driver’s door was forced opened and the roof rack damaged. Nothing was stolen from the car.
Gardai in Thomastown are appealing for information or for anyone who may have seen anything to contact them on 056 775 4150.
Garda are also appealing for motorists not to leave any valuables visible inside of parked cars.
