WEATHER FORECAST: Good news on the horizon for Kilkenny this week

By COLIN BARTLEY

IT’S looking like a really good week in Kilkenny, mostly dry and fresh. But be warned: the nights are set to get a lot colder as temperatures plummet.

And the looming bank holiday weekend is positively summery.

Today will be very bright and dry, with just a few clouds about, with temperatures of between 13C and 14C.

Don’t get caught out though, as the mercury is going to fall off a cliff tonight with temperatures hitting 0C… yes, that’s ZERO. Expect frost overnight and if driving be careful on the roads, as they could be slippy.

More of the same is expected tomorrow: sunny and fresh with a few clouds. Temperatures will remain around 12C or 13C.

It will remain cloudy on Wednesday morning, but the sun will breakhrough at times and it will be mild, around 13C.

Overnight could see the first showers of the week, but they will be few and far between, temperatures down to about 6C.

Thursday will be a good, dry fresh and sunny day. Temperatures up to about 13C again.

Thursday evening will see a bit of a change, with some heavier showers setting in. It will be cold too, with temperatures falling to 2C or 3C.

Friday, unfortunately, will be wet and cold. There could be a chilly wind around also, temperatures not rising over 8C.

Showers will continue overnight and temperatures will fall back to around 3C.

Next weekend will start wet before an unseasonal warm spell sets in, with temperatures for the bank holiday reaching as high as 19C.
