Woman (30s) attacked by youths at county Kilkenny playground
A woman was subjected to a horrific and unprovoked attack from two youths as she walked home after dark in a county Kilkenny town.
The young woman, who is in her late 30s was walking through the playground at Bolton Woods in Callan shortly after midnight on Monday, May 25 when the attack occurred.
The woman was listening to music through her headphones when two male youths appeared from nowhere and approached the woman.
The first youth proceeded to kick the woman while the second youth hit the woman with a stick, which ended up cutting the terrified female.
The youths then fled the playground leaving the injured woman to fend for herself.
She contacted the gardai and when they arrived they found her deeply shaken and with some minor injures. The woman told gardai she did not recognise her attackers and could not put an exact age on the pair.
Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have been in the Callan area late on Sunday night or early Monday morning who may have passed by two youths, or who may have noticed anything suspicious to contact Callan Garda Station on 056 777 5016.
