UPDATED: Man (28) appears in court charged with murder of Kilkenny woman
A 28-year-old arrested in relation to the murder of a 71-year-old woman in Kilkenny this week has appeared in court charged with her murder.
Trevor Rowe, with an address at 4 Abbey Street, was before Kilkenny District Court this afternoon after being held since Wednesday in relation to the incident.
Anne Butler (71) was found dead at a house on Maudlin Street in Kilkenny city at about 6pm on Wednesday after gardaí received a call which led them to the property.
Judge Geraldine Carthy directed that Mr Rowe receive a medical assessment and remanded the accused to appear at Cloverhill District Court via video link next Friday, April 3.
