‘His tax and NCT were over 700 days expired’ – man caught using mobile phone while driving in Kilkenny

A driver whose tax and NCT were more than 700 days out of date had his car seized after he was caught illegally using his mobile phone while driving in Kilkenny city.

The hapless motorist failed to heed gardai on mobile patrol who spotted him using his phone while driving. He was initially told he would be hit with a fine and penalty points on his licence.

But, according to local gardai on social media, “his day got worse” when officers discovered “his tax and NCT were both over 700 days expired so we had to impound it”.
