WEEKEND WEATHER: Kilkenny to escape worst, festival-goers face washout

By COLIN BARTLEY

KILKENNY is set to avoid the worst of the weather this weekend and remain remarkably dry, but just up the road at the Electric Picnic, they are preparing for a rain deluge.

Met Éireann has issued a yellow rain warning for most of the west coast from Cork to Sligo, and the rest of the country will feel the effects, but Kilkenny, along with Waterford, Wexford and South Tipperary may actually get away with just the odd shower.

Today will be cloudy with the chance of an odd, patchy shower. It will be another breezy but pleasant, with highest temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees. Overnight there is the chance of a couple of heavy showers

Saturday may see a shower or two early in the day, but these are set to clear and by afternoon it could turn into a mild day with some sunny spells. It will remain windy, and temperatures will remain just under 20 degrees.

Sunday will feel fresher, as temperatures drop a little to about 16 degrees, the winds will still be strong, and might bring a light shower or two during the day.

Next week, the weather is looking much the same, temperatures will remain in the high teens but the chance of showers remain.
