WEEKEND WEATHER: Kilkenny braced for ‘stormy’ weekend and chance of snow next week

Met Éireann has warned we could see snow fall on higher ground in the countdown to Christmas next week after Kilkenny is battered by “stormy” weather over the weekend.

The national forecaster said the weather will remain unsettled with another cold snap arriving from next Tuesday.

And they warned the country will face “stormy” condition on Sunday and the country is hit by very strong winds.

Met Éireann said the weather overall for next 10 days is likely to remain unsettled due to low pressure coming up through the Atlantic.

The national forecaster also saidwarned we could see snow in higher areas as temperatures plummet.

However it is still too early to say if we could be in for a white Christmas.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann has issued a wind warning ahead of 100kph gusts – as forecasters warn of “very strong gusty winds” across Ireland for the rest of the week.

However, today will be a mostly bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers, with temperatures of between 9C and 12C.

Tomorrow will be mild before outbreaks of rain extend from the Atlantic. A spell of heavy rain will develop in Atlantic coastal areas later as winds strengthen in the same areas, increasing strong to gale force.

The weather will take another turn for the worse on Sunday, with stromy conditions forecast in many parts of the country.
