Gardai search for knife used to stab three people as 55-year-old man arrested
Gardai are searching for the knife used to stab three people on Monday night after a 55-year-old man was arrested in relation to the attack.
A 47-year-old woman remains in a critical condition in hospital following the knife attack which saw three other people, including a child, injured.
The 47-year-old woman was stabbed in the chest and underwent emergency surgery overnight.
A 26-year-old woman was stabbed in the upper body and a ten-year-old boy was stabbed in the chest.
Both have also undergone surgery and their conditions are described as serious but non-life threatening.
Another woman, aged 18, was punched in the face during the attack.
The suspect is currently being held at Mayfield Garda Station in Cork following the incident at a house on the Middle Glanmire Road area of Montenotte in Cork City at around 11pm last night.
The suspect is believed to be known to the family and was detained after a major operation including uniformed Gardaí and members of the armed Regional Support Unit.
