Kilkenny’s Rivercourt Hotel gets green light to redevelop historic building in city
A hotel in the heart of medieval Kilkenny has been given the go ahead for its plans to expand.
The Rivercourt Hotel at the bridge on John’s Street will now create a further 19 rooms for the complex between the existing building and the adjoining protected structure, McCourts Townhouse.
The hotel will change the layout of McCourts Townhouse by removing the bar, restaurant and kitchen area and replacing them with eight new bedrooms and six new suites.
As part of the plans, a new single-storey flat roof link extension will be created between the Rivercourt Hotel and McCourts Townhouse and a further five-bedrooms will be created here.
Once completed the hotel, run by the Neville Group, will have over 120 rooms available to guests.
