Kilkenny store makes €500 donation to local women’s refuge

The Amber Kilkenny Women’s Refuge has become the latest charity to benefit from Aldi’s Community Grants programme.

The refuge recently received a €500 grant from team at Aldi’s store on the Waterford Road.

The €500 donation was presented to Jean Murphy from the Amber Kilkenny Women’s Refuge by Pamala O’Neil of Aldi.

Aldi’s Community Grants programme helps fund local charities and organisations that contribute vital work and services in their local communities. Each local charity supported is chosen by Aldi employees, enabling them to help the local good causes they are passionate about.

The programme has contributed to over 340 different local projects to date, donating over €250,000 since 2016.

Aldi store manager Anthony Synnott said: “The Amber Kilkenny Women’s Refuge provides a vital service for women and children affected by domestic violence and abusive relationships. The work they do to offer accommodation, a 24-hour helpline, therapy and care makes a huge difference to Kilkenny, which is why our store team are proud to have nominated them to receive our Community Grants donation.”
