Kilkenny family return home to find house ransacked and gold and diamond jewellery stolen

Burglars broke into a family home outside a county Kilkenny village while the owners were away and made off with a quantity of expensive jewellery, including a gold watch, a diamond bracelet and three gold rings.

The break-in occurred at a house in the Ballinacroney area of Piltown sometime between February 18 and February 21.

A local Garda spokesperson confirmed the thieves gained access to the property via a back door.

Once inside, the thieves ransacked the wardrobes and located the jewellery before making their escape.

Gardaí have appealed to eyewitnesses or anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact Piltown Garda Station on 051 643 102.
