KILKENNY WEATHER: Some good news on horizon to put the spring back in our step

There’s some welcome news weather-wise on the horizon for Kilkenny after a relatively cold and wet few days.

Today is set to remain cool and showery, although the south east is likely to escape the heaviest rain forecast for the north and north west regions.

There’ll also be some sunny spells throughout day, according to Met Éireann, who said we can expect “the best of these early on in the day”, with highest temperatures ranging between 9 and 13 degrees.

And we can look forward to even better weather tomorrow and into the early part of next week. The national forecaster said: “Saturday will be mainly dry and sunny with temperatures ranging 13 to 15 degrees north to south with light variable breezes.”

Sunday is also set to be dry with sunshine, albeit with the risk of showers.

Met Éireann added: “Temperatures are expected to start to rise from Sunday on with up to 17 degrees expected in the west of the country as easterly winds become established keeping things cooler on the east coast.”

Monday also looks dry and sunny, with light easterly winds and temperatures ranging between about 14 degrees in the east of the country, and up to 19 degrees in the west. Overnight temperatures will fall as low as 3 degrees.

The sunny and dry conditions are set to continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures “higher than typical for this time of year”, the national forecaster added.
