BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND WEATHER: Hot, hot, Hot – Kilkenny’s in for a scorcher!

Get the BBQ on standby! Kilkenny is set for a scorcher of a bank holiday weekend – with temperatures soaring to the mid-20s and staying that way right up until next Thursday at least.

Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures reaching as high as 29 degrees in some parts of the country.

And the good news (unless you’re a farmer) is that we can look forward for more bright blue skies and no rain right up until the end of next week.

Met Éireann said each day over the June Bank Holiday weekend should see the mercury rising into the mid-20s with onshore breezes making eastern and southern parts of the country a bit cooler.

The national forecaster said today will be dry and sunny, although the sunshine may turn a little hazy at times.

Tomorrow will also be perfect BBQ weather, with temperatures rising to as high as 25 degrees.

And it’s a similar story for Sunday, with the south and east dodging the bit of cloud that may hang over parts of the north and west.

“It will be warm with temperatures reaching between 21 and 25 degrees, but with an easterly breeze continuing, highest temperatures will be in the high-teens along southern and eastern coasts,” Met Éireann said.

Early indications are equally bright for the early part of next week, with prolonged dry, sunny spells throughout and temperatures up to the mid-20s forecast right up to next weekend.
