WARNING: Bogus tradesmen targeting vulnerable in Kilkenny during lockdown

Bogus tradesmen are targeting vulnerable residents across Kilkenny while the Covid-19 restrictions remain in place, local gardai have warned.

It follows a number of “very recent” reports to gardai in Kilkenny and neighbouring Carlow involving thieves posing as handymen calling to homes in parts of both counties.

A local Garda spokesperson said: “We urge all people to exercise caution when employing people to carry out work on your home and always satisfy yourself as to the authenticity of the tradesperson/caller.

“Use the Garda Bogus Caller cards which are available through Community Alert groups or your local Garda Station. Report unwelcome visitors to your local Gardaí.”
