A further two people lost their lives from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland in the last 24 hours, the HSE said this evening.

The total death toll here is now 1,714 while the number of confirmed cases has now reached 25,368 after another 13 were diagnosed.

Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said: “The importance of people exercising their own judgement and taking personal responsibility in protecting themselves and others cannot be overstated at this crucial point in the pandemic.

“Hand washing, physical distancing, cough/sneeze etiquette, face coverings and knowing the symptoms of Covid-19 is how every individual can equip themselves to live safely as restrictions are eased.”
