Kilkenny Council wins more plaudits for innovative ‘age-friendly’ initiatives

Kilkenny County Council has once again been recognised for the role it takes in trying to make the living experience of the elderly in our county easier.

Chambers Ireland in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government this week revealed the shortlist for the Excellence in Local Government Awards 2020.

For the second year in a row, the council has been nominated in the ‘Age-Friendly Initiative’ category, this time for the Thomastown Age Friendly Town Plan.

Now in its 17th year, the Local Government Awards highlight the vital work done by local authorities in communities around the country.

This year the awards feature a total of 86 projects from local authorities shortlisted over 16 categories.

The winners will be announced on Thursday, November 26.
