Motorist caught driving on Kilkenny road high on cocaine and cannabis
A drug driver was arrested after they tested positive for cocaine and cannabis at a Garda checkpoint this morning.
The arrest comes as gardai in Kilkenny and neighbouring Carlow continue to man checkpoints across both counties during the Level 5 lockdown.
A local Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardaí in Kilkenny and Carlow continue to conduct checkpoints in both Counties, engaging with motorists. Kilkenny Gardaí tested one driver this morning at an #OperationFanacht checkpoint, an oral fluid test proved positive for cocaine and cannabis.
“Driver arrested and results of blood specimen awaited. Court proceedings to follow.”
Gardai have again urged motorists to “never drive while under the influence of an intoxicant”.
