Funding and special retreats on offer for Kilkenny artists

By Jayde Maher

The Kilkenny Arts Office has announced their open call for people to apply for the Arts Act Grant, Tyrone Guthrie Bursary Award and the Moth Bursary Award 2021.

Individual artists and groups and organisations that promote the arts are eligible to apply for the Arts Act Grant. This grant allows local authorities to provide financial assistance in order to stimulate public interest, promote knowledge and improve standards in the arts.

Kilkenny Arts Office is in partnership with the Tyrone Guthrie Centre to provide artists with the opportunity to work on a project alongside others in a private and unique environment. If chosen, artists will get to spend two weeks at Tyrone Guthrie Centre artists’ workplace in Monaghan.

The Arts Office has also collaborated with The Moth Retreat in Cavan, who are offering Kilkenny-based emerging writers a week long stay at their studio.

Writers will be selected on the basis of a project they hope to undertake at the residency, as well as their previous achievements.

The closing date for all applications is 4pm, January 18.
