Green light for new estate with over 100 homes in Kilkenny city
Plans for a development of more than 100 new homes in Kilkenny have received a major boost.
An Board Pleanála has decided that an application by developer Denis Treacy Construction Limited to build 112 new homes at Margaret’s Field on the Callan Road in Kilkenny can go directly to the planning stage.
The application has been made as part of a Strategic Housing Development (SHD), the programme introduced by the Government in 2017 as part of their Rebuilding Ireland project to speed up the planning application process and accelerate the delivery of larger housing proposals.
An Bord Pleanála has 16 weeks to make a decision on the project once it receives the full planning application.
Denis Treacy Construction Limited previously received planning permission for 60 new homes on a 2.5 hectare site at Margaret’s Fields in 2018. Under this plan, an existing three-storey apartment block at the location would have demolished.
A further 62 new houses and 50 new apartments will be consgtructed under the new plans lodged with An Bord Pleanála.
