Accidents and long delays as freezing temperatures wreak havoc on Kilkenny’s roads
The cold and icy conditions are playing havoc with Kilkenny roads this morning with reports of crashes and long delays.
A Status Yellow weather warning for freezing conditions overnight saw temperatures drop to -3 in places. This added to the snow that fell yesterday has mad driving very dangerous.
Emergency services are currently dealing with a serious accident on the N25 at Luffany near Slieverue. Motorists are asked to drive with caution in the area as the incident is dealt with.
AA Roadwatch are reporting serious delays in Kilkenny City also, with the worst delays occurring off Junction 8 of the M9 Motorway onto the N10 and into Hebron Road. The AA says there delays in both directions it is reported.
The Status Yellow weather warning for freezing conditions across Kilkenny remains in place until 11am this morning. Due to these icy conditions, the AA is asking people to drive “with particular care on secondary and minor roads. Reduce your speed, leave extra space to brake and keep manoeuvres gentle.”
