Kilkenny pensioner killed in tragic road accident
AN elderly Kilkenny man has died in a road crash after his car collided with a pole at Coolcullen.
The man, who was in his 80s and, was killed in the collision, which occurred sometime between 7pm and 8pm last night.
His body was removed to University Hospital Waterford.
The man was alone in the car and there were no other vehicles involved.
The road remains closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
The Kilkenny pensioner’s death was the fifth road fatality yesterday following the tragic deaths of four young men in Donegal.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses who may have traveled the road or can assist them to contact Castlecomer Garda Station on 056 444 0650.
