Kilkenny’s ‘singing bins’ vandalised just days after being installed
Vandals have targeted a new initiative that was designed to brighten up Kilkenny city just days after it got underway.
Last week Kilkenny County Council launched their ‘singing bins’, which reward people who dispose of their waste with a little song.
The idea of the bins is to reward those who do their bit to keep the city clean and tidy as the city prepares to reopen to local and visiting shoppers and tourists.
The bins had been operational just a matter of days when they were silenced.
A local Garda source confirmed vandals damaged two of the ‘singing bins’ on the Parade sometime between 5pm and 8pm last Wednesday.
Potential witnesses of anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
