WEATHER FORECAST: Kilkenny to enjoy best of unsettled conditions forecast this week
Kilkenny and the rest of the country faces an unsettled week on the weather front, according to Met Éireann. But the county and the south east will enjoy some of the best conditions forecast for the week ahead.
The national forecaster said temepratures will remain around average for this time of the year, but overall conditions will be changeable with showers or longer spells of rain over the coming days.
Today will begin cloudy, with rain in the northwest spreading to most areas later in the morning, heaviest in the west. Met Éireann said: “The rain will become light and patchy as it crosses the country with eastern parts of Ulster and Leinster holding mostly dry throughout the day. Brightening up in all areas later, with rain clearing to scattered showers and sunny spells. Highs of 17 to 19 degrees, in a light northwest breeze.”
Tomorrow, rain will develop in the southwest from early morning, with hazy sunshine elsewhere and scattered showers to start the day. Met Éireann warned: “Showers will become more widespread during the day. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze.”
Wednesday will be dry in the morning, with sunny spells developing along with some scattered showers. But the national forecaster warned: “Showers will become quite widespread through the afternoon and some will be heavy, possible thundery. Highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees in a light south to southeast breeze. Becoming dry for a time early Wednesday night as showers ease, and largely clear with just high cloud. However rain will move into parts of the west and south towards dawn. Lows of 10 to 14 degrees.”
Thursday will be a wet and cloudy day with outbreaks of rain or showers spreading to most regions, turning heavy at times and temperature highs of 16 to 20 degrees.
Met Éireann said current indications suggest this unsettled weather will continue into next weekend, adding: “Continuing unsettled with low pressure situated near Ireland bringing further rain or showers. Temperatures will remain around average.”
