‘Cat’ burglar cons Kilkenny couple as gardai issue warning to residents

Gardai have urged Kilkenny residents to be vigilant after after a recent “distraction burglary” in the city.

During the incident, a woman called to the door of a couple on Johnswell Road pretending to be looking for a cat.

The unsuspecting couple obliged and helped the woman to look for the cat. But they later discovered a sum of cash missing from their home.

A local Garda spokesperson confirmed: “The suspect is described as a non-Irish woman around 19 years of age. Anyone with any information please contact Kilkenny Garda Station. Gardaí recommend to always check out the authenticity of anyone calling to your door to be aware of bogus callers.”
