Gardaí urge Kilkenny motorists to ‘turn over a new leaf’ as seasons change
Gardaí have urged Kilkenny motorists to beware of the dangers of fallen leaves on our roads.
They warned “consequences may be severe” for drivers who ignore “fresh challenges” as a result of the changing seasons.
A local garda spokesperson said one of these challenges “at the moment especially is the large amount of leaves that have recently fallen”.
They added: “A vehicle’s only contact with the road is through its tyres. There is no contact when another material is sandwiched, like fallen leaves. This will affect braking, steering and of course traction.
“Turn over a new leaf behind the wheel, always drive making allowances for conditions.”
