Kilkenny food producers feature in new list of Ireland’s ‘Best Food Products’
SOME renowned Kilkenny food producers have featured in a new list of Ireland’s ’30 Best Food Products’.
Goatsbridge Trout Caviar and Highbank Orchard Syrup (pictured below) were both included in the list, which is published in today’s Irish Independent.
Food writer Katy McGuinness says: “Canada may have its maple syrup, but we have Highbank’s organic apple syrup from Co Kilkenny which is even better – tangy and sweet at the same time – and can be used in dressings, baking, and cooking, whenever a little apple-y sweetness is required.”
The feature also sings the praises of Mag and Ger Kirwin’s (pictured above) trout farm outside Thomastown, which supplies some of the country’s leading restaurants: “The freshwater caviar from Mag and Ger Kirwan’s family trout farm in Co Kilkenny is a luxurious product that you’ll encounter in some of Ireland’s best restaurants, but that you could also buy a little tub of all for yourself and eat with a dainty silver spoon.”
McGuinness said the Kilkenny food producers and other businesses who made the top 30 list were chosen “on the basis that the products are popular and reasonably widely available to consumers”.
