Spring has sprung (again) as our weather takes another twist: Met Éireann

SPRING, it appears, has sprung again!

After last week’s freezing temperatures, Met Éireann has forecast a much milder week ahead, with mercury levels in Kilkenny and throughout Leinster rising to as high as 15C.

Today will be mainly cloudy, with some “outbreaks of light rain and drizzle”, but overall it will be a big improvement on last week’s start to April.

And the warmer, drier conditions are likely to continue, with temperatures in the mid-teens for much of the week despite some rainy showers.

“Generally, a good deal of dry weather is the outlook,” said Met Éireann meteorologist Liz  Gavin.

“Overall for the whole week, there will be a lot of dry weather but there will be some rain, particularly on Monday and Tuesday there will be some outbreaks.”

The mainly dry weather will continue into Wednesday and Thursday, but the cloudy conditions will also persist.

The outlook for next weekend is even better. Early indications suggest temperatures will increase again and look to exceed 15C.

Friday will be changeable and although it will start off mainly dry, persistent rain and fresh, gusty southerly winds will spread from the west during the day and evening.
