150 community groups awarded €127k to help keep Kilkenny in full bloom

UP to 150 community groups across Kilkenny city and county have been awarded a total of €127,000 in funding.

The funding was confirmed at the April monthly meeting of Kilkenny County Council last week.

The community groups who will benefit from the Amenity Grants Scheme include resident associations, Tidy Towns groups and voluntary organisation across the county.

Kilkenny County Council said the scheme’s main objective is “to support local communities to undertake the full spectrum of small-scale amenity projects from the upkeep, maintenance and enjoyment of public amenities through landscaping and development of open spaces to the provision of street and outdoor furniture and small-scale improvement works”.

Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr Eamon Aylward, welcomed confirmation of the funding.

Cllr Aylward said: “The grants provide support to a wide range of small-scale works right across the county that help continue to contribute to the overall amenity of Kilkenny and its reputation as a quality place to live.”
