Kilkenny Roots Festival listed as one of ‘Best Things To Do’ in Ireland this weekend
KILKENNY Roots Festival has featured in a guide to the ’15 Best Things To Do in Ireland’ over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
Thousands of music lovers from across the country and from abroad will descend on the Marble City this weekend as more than 30 venues play host to a stellar line-up of leading home-grown and international acts.
The Kilkenny Roots Festival, now in its 21st year, has attracted some of biggest names in the Americana/Roots canon to our medieval streets, including Calexico, Giant Sand, Drive-By Truckers, Jason Isbell, Alejandro Escovedo, Guy Clark, Chuck Prophet, Ray LaMontagne, Richmond Fontaine, Rodney Crowell, Phosphorescent, Sturgill Simpson and Alabama Shakes.
And this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever. The festival, which it is attracting more and more music lovers across all genres, features in a guide of the top attractions for the coming May Bank Holiday weekend.
The guide, published in today’s Irish Independent, said of the festival: “In its 21st year, the Kilkenny Roots Festival has evolved to attract some of the biggest names in Americana/Roots and this year the line-up includes The Sadies, Jason Lytle, Erika Wennerstrom, I Draw Slow, Patty Griffin, Susto, The Accidentals, and more.
“Taking place at more than 30 venues across the medieval city, with more than 40 Irish and international acts, and some shows free, it’s a no-brainer for top class entertainment over the weekend.”
