Decision on Kilkenny Greenway funding due before end of month
A DECISION on funding for the Kilkenny Greenway will be made at the end of the month.
Planning permission has been approved for the 22km greenway, which will run from New Ross to Waterford.
A company, Malachy Walsh consultants, has been commissioned to draft a design for the greenway, which is estimated will cost €13.2 million.
Reports this week quoted New Ross director district director Eamonn Hore as saying that work on the greenway will get underway next year.
The 22km walking and cycling route would connect Ferrybank to New Ross along a disused railway line and would further connect with the Waterford Greenway (pictured) stretching to Dungarvan via a new bridge over the Suir due to be constructed as part of the city’s North Quay regeneration.
