Just days left to nominate your local ‘superhero’ for Garda Youth Awards
THE final countdown is underway for applications for the inaugural Kilkenny-Carlow Garda Youth Awards.
With less than two weeks to go before the May 31 deadline, community leaders, teachers, sports coaches and parents are being urged to nominate young people who are making a positive contribution to their communities.
Garda Crime Prevention Officer Peter McConnon said there is “no better way to endorse the great work and achievements of the young people in our communities of Kilkenny and Carlow”.
Hurling legend Henry Shefflin and RTÉ journalist Evanne Ní Chuilinn (pictured above with Netwatch CEO David Walsh) launched the awards earlier this year.
The awards will recognise the “outstanding contribution” young people between the ages of 13 and 21 are making to communities across Kilkenny and Carlow.
The awards event will take place in early November. The winners of four individual categories will then go forward for a national awards ceremony planned for next year.
