Gardai in new bid to unravel mystery over woman (22) who disappeared 26 years ago today

An appeal for information into the disappearance of a young woman in Waterford 26-years ago has been reissued by the gardai.

Imelda Keenan, who was 22-years-old at the time she went missing, left her flat on William Street which she shared with her boyfriend on the afternoon of January 3, 1994. It was the last time Imelda was ever seen.

The young woman, originally from Mountmellick in county Laois, was studying in Waterford at the time of her disappearance.

At 1.30pm that day she left to go post office and was last seen crossing the road on Lombard Street close to the Tower Hotel. She was wearing a white jumper, leopard skin ski pants, a blue denim jacket and black shoes at the time.

In 2012 after receiving information, gardai carried out an extensive search centred around a derelict bungalow in Ferrybank in the hope of finding Ms Keenan, however the search was unsuccessful.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Waterford gardaí on 051-305300 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
