Biker with no license or insurance was high on drugs when stopped at county Kilkenny checkpoint

A motorcyclist with no license or insurance was caught high on drugs at a Garda checkpoint in county Kilkenny.

The suspect was stopped at a mandatory intoxicant testing checkpoint in Freshford in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A local Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Driver failed a oral fluid test, tested positive for cannabis and was arrested and taken to Kilkenny for a blood specimen to be taken. Driver had no driving licence or insurance for the motorcycle which was seized under the road traffic act.”

The biker is due to appear in court charged with the offences.

Local gardai urged motorists: “Never drive while under the influence of an intoxicant. Ensure your driving licence and insurance are in order.”
