BREAKING: Kilkenny gardai hunt two men who tried to rob woman after she used ATM on High Street

A WOMAN was left traumatised after two young men attempted to rob her just moments after she tried to take cash out of an ATM on Kilkenny’s High Street.

The shocking incident occurred at 8.25pm last night.

According to gardai, the woman had parked her car and then attempted to withdraw money from two ATMs on the street.

On discovering that the second cash machine was out of order the woman returned to her car. But as she reached the vehicle two young males ran after her and attempted to rob her. A struggle ensued as they refused to let her close the door of the car.

A Garda source said: “They demanded cash from her and attempted to grab at her.”

However the thieves did not succeed in stealing anything from their intended victim, who was not physically injured in the incident.

Kilkenny gardai are appealing to potential eyewitnesses to come forward to help them with their investigation.

Gardai have given the following description of the two men: “One of the males was wearing a black hoody and white trainers, the other was wearing a grey hoody. Both were described as being of slight build but quite tall. They both spoke with Irish accents. They ran off in the direction of the Town Hall.”

They added: “We are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area around that time or for any witnesses to contact Kilkenny Garda Station 056 777 5000.”
