BREAKING: Large number of Kilkenny infections among 6,888 new cases of virus
A further eight people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 6,888 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.
It brings the overall death toll as a result of the virus to 2,344. There has now been 147,613 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).
The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 2,088 are in Dublin, 862 in Cork, 469 in Limerick, 405 in Wexford, 320 in Waterford with the remaining 2,744 cases are spread across all other counties, including 163 further infections in Kilkenny.
