COLD SNAP: Kilkenny braced for more wintry showers as temperatures plummet

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside …

Wrap up well if you’re venturing outdoors this week – because Kilkenny is set to be hit with another cold blast, with temperatures falling below zero degrees tomorrow.

While temperatures recovered to double digits over the weekend, Met Éireann has warned we’re in for a cold snap before it warns up again later in the week.

Today is set to be cold and blustery with temperatures plummeting to lows of zero degress overnight, leading to “patchy frost”.

Tomorrow will be dry with moderate temperatures, but the night is set to bring “widespread frost” with lows of -1 degree.

Met Éireann said the national outlook is for “changeable weather” over the coming days.

But this are set to improve by Wednesday as temperatures begin to rise again.

Met Éireann said: “It is expected to be a mostly dry day on Wednesday with sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud. Maximum temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

“Cloud will thicken overnight with patchy light rain moving northeastwards and a spell of persistent rain looks set to move in to affect the west and north later.”
