COVID-19: 236 confirmed cases in Kilkenny, banks to announce second three-month mortgage holiday
There are now 236 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Kilkenny as the Government prepares to extend the partial lockdown to combat the spread of the virus.
However, homeowners whose income has been affected by the pandemic will be relieved after a report this morning claimed a second three-month payment break for borrowers is set to be unveiled within days.
The first three-month repayment holiday was announced in March and has resulted in a massive uptake.
But with much of the economy shut down and job losses and temporary layoffs continuing to soar, banks are reportedly preparing to extend the scheme.
AIB chief executive Colin Hunt told the Irish Independent he expects details of a further payment break to be announced over the coming days.
