COVID-19 UPDATE: Three more people die as number of cases in Republic of Ireland rises by 302
There are now 2,121 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland after the number of new cases rose by 302 in the last 24 hours.
A further three people lost their lives as the total number of deaths reached 22.
Earlier today, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said that intensive care units in the country may be full “within a few days”.
He added that he was concerned about admission rates to intensive care and said there was an unprecedented effort being made by the health services.
Mr Varadkar said that based the seasonal flu figures, it would be “surprising” if fewer than 1,000 people died from the disease by the end of the crisis.
