Deadly cargo: Lorry with load of huge steel girders held together by fraying straps stopped by Kilkenny gardai

This articulated truck carrying a huge load of steel girders sticking out the back and held only by fraying straps was stopped by gardai in Kilkenny.

The vehicle was pulled over by members of the Kilkenny Roads Policing Unit and the Road Safety Authority Ireland (RSAI) at a checkpoint recently.

A Garda spokesperson said: “The load was hanging over the rear and straps holding the load were fraying.

“The driver was not allowed to travel until he changed the straps for chains and a rear projecting load lamp placed on the rear load.”
