Drill gang targeting vans parked in Kilkenny
Gardai in Kilkenny are hunting a gang of thieves who are targeting parked work vans by drilling holes into the vehicles to steal valuable power tools.
On Tuesday several power tolls were stolen from a van parked in the Larchfield area of the city. The van, a Renault Traffic, was parked at the roadside at the time. When the owner returned he discovered a hole had been drilled over the lock on the back door.
Three men were spotted fleeing the scene in a dark coloured Audi estate.
A local Garda spokesperson confirmed to KilkennyNow.ie that €3,000 worth of tools were stolen, including a DeWalt laser level, DeWalt pinners, a DeWalt jigsaw and a Milwalki impact drill.
A similar theft occurred later that night at around 9pm on the Nuncio Road.
Again, a hole was drilled into the side of the vehicle, a white Volkswagen van, to gain access. Gardai confirmed up to €2,300 worth of power tools were stolen, including two Impact Drills, a Dewalt Router, a Dewalt Nail Gun and two Combi Drills.
Gardai have urged witnesses or anyone who may have any information about these thefts to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
