Drink driver over twice the legal limit arrested in county Kilkenny
A drink driver was arrested after he was stopped by gardai in county Kilkenny and found to be over twice the legal alcohol limit.
The motorist was stopped by gardai outside Stoneyford on Sunday evening. He has since appeared before Kilkenny District Court on drink driving charges.
Meanwhile another driver was arrsted in neighbouring county Carlow after they tested positive for cannabis.
The driver was stopped by members of the Carlow Roads Policing Unit conducting an operation Fanacht checkpoint in Ballon.
A local Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Cannabis also seized as was the car under the Clancy Amendment, an unaccompanied learner permit holder. Results of blood specimen analysis awaited. Prosecution to follow.”
