Garda warning following spate of bicycle thefts in Kilkenny city in recents days

Gardai in Kilkenny are reporting a worrying increase in bicycle thefts in recent days.

However, local officers are having some success in retrieving some of the stolen property.

Earlier this week members of the local Garda Unit D seized a colourful Apollo Creed junior mountain bike (pictured below), with a lock under the saddle, and are looking to have it returned to its rightful owner. Anyone with information about the bike is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.

A local Garda spokesperson urged people to “please ensure your bicycle is secured in your property or with a strong lock and lock it tightly to an immovable object”.

They also advised bike owners to take a picture of their bicycle and email to yourself.
