Get the brollies ready – Kilkenny’s in for a wet and frosty weekend: Met Éireann
OUR ‘March of many weathers’ is set to take another turn for the worse today, with Met Éireann forecasting “widespread rain” as temperatures plummet again over the weekend.
After two extremely mild Spring days, with the mercury rising to as high at 16 degrees in places, we’re in for a much colder – and wetter – weekend.
The national forecaster said Kilkenny and most of Leinster will experience “stiff southerly winds” this morning, with scattered patches of mist and drizzle.
Met Éíreann added: “A spell of persistent rain will become widespread later in the morning. Then drier, brighter weather will spread from the west later in the afternoon, with sunny spells developing in many places by early evening.”
Temperatures will plummet to lows of zero to three degrees overnight tonight, with a sharp frost and some mist or fog patches in southern areas.
The outlook is for colder weather over the weekend, but there will be a lot of dry bright conditions with frosty nights and mostly settled during the early days of next week.
